Grease interceptor installation at Miches de la Baja, La Habra
Our friends at Miches de la Baja needed a commercial grease interceptor for their restaurant on Harbor Blvd. INVICTA dug the pit and trench, set a precast concrete interceptor by crane, tied in the kitchen drains and restored the parking lot so they could get back to serving.
The scope
- Excavation for the interceptor pit and grease line trench
- Crane delivery and set of a multi-compartment precast concrete grease interceptor
- Inlet and outlet connections with access openings brought to grade
- Kitchen floor and wall opened to re-route drains to the grease line
- Backfill, compaction and parking lot surface restored
Why it matters
Restaurant grease that reaches the sewer hardens and causes backups and overflows, so sewer agencies across LA and Orange County require grease interceptors for most kitchens. La Habra is in OC San’s service area. OC San’s program requires food service establishments to pretreat their wastewater with grease interceptors (OC San).
A good install isn’t only the tank. The drains, access risers and site restoration have to be right for the restaurant to pass inspection and reopen.
